The Covert Township Lions Club has installed new officers for 2009 - 2010 their annual Installation/Awards Banquet. President - George Saleeby, 1st Vice - Janice Rahrig, 2nd Vice - Warren Seabury, 3rd Vice Merna Llorens, Secretary - Ray Llorens, Treasurer - Carolyn Stuckum, Tail Twister - Dorothy Kemp, Lion Tamer - Mathew Rahrig & Retention - Ella Harrington. One and two year Directors Shirley Ashley, & Wayne Rendell, Immediate Past President - Vilma Childs. The 2009 coveted Lion of the Year award went to Lion Wayne Rendell COVERT TOWNSHIP LIONS CLUB
2008 - 2009 FY ACTIVITIES
Hosted a blood drive on August 19 with the American Red Cross
Covert Lions greeted the Covert Public School busses on September 2nd as the children arrived for the first day of school. The were presented with pencils, erasers and book marks from the Leader Dog School.
We will install one new Lion in June
Lion Carolynn Miller and Covert Lion Ray Llorens attended the Michigan Eye Bank in Ann Arbor for presentation training.
Lion Ray Llorens and PDG Donna Romanak were interviewed on South Haven’s Cosy Radio to promote the bike ride on October 5 for Diabetes Awareness and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Covert Lions Club Hosted the Lion Orientation Training Session on Tuesday, September 30 for all new Lions an their sponsors. The session was conducted by DG Linda Bosma, PDG Jerry Likes and Lion Ray Llorens.
Covert Lions did a Ham N’ Yam fundraiser dinner on Saturday October 18.
Covert Lions Arts & Crafts show was held on Saturday, November 15. This was our first HARVEST ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW In lieu of the annual Christmas Arts and Crafts show
Distributed ?? Food Baskets and ??? Toys to local residents.
Donated food and clothing to a Covert family after a fatal house fire in December
Donated a talking scale and a hand held recorder to a blind Covert resident.
7 pairs of glasses were given to needy Covert residents
15 Leos participated in the September Adopt A Highway cleanup along M-140 Hwy, along with Advisor Lion Shirley Ashley and her daughter Donna.
